Description
Cards Against Humanity and Blackbox are hiring a full-stack web engineer who is excited to help us build tools for independent artists and tell jokes on the internet. The ideal candidate is eager to deeply understand complicated problems and contribute holistically to solving them. We’re interested in hiring well-rounded people with hobbies and side projects who are curious about learning new things and contributing to our culture in unexpected ways. Please consider applying even if your background doesn’t perfectly match our ideal credentials. We are committed to diversity and especially encourage members of underrepresented communities to apply.
The technology we’ve built so far has shipped the most-backed Kickstarter game in history, sold over 10,000 Trump Bug-Out bags in under 2 hours, distributed 30,000 pieces of cow poo, and raised nearly $3 million for nonprofits like the Wikimedia Foundation, the Sunlight Foundation, and DonorsChoose.org, where Cards Against Humanity has funded over 13,000 teacher projects in high-poverty classrooms across the United States.
Day to day you’ll be working closely with a small team of designers and engineers, primarily on Blackbox, to plan and build new features, and optimize existing ones. We’re currently using Ruby on Rails, AngularJS, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, and AWS to make this happen, but we’re open to always open to new technologies if it makes sense.
This is a full-time position based in Chicago, IL with benefits including full health and dental and generous vacation. We work out of our wonderful co-working space full of other amazing artists, developers, game designers, photographers, and the occasional dog. We often work remotely as well, but you should be available to join us for regular meetings.
