My client is a Major Bank that is looking for Governance and Risk Manager to join their team for a 6 - 12 month contract.

Duties:
*Providing expert direction, guidance, support, oversight and independent challenge to ensure that all material and significant business risks are identified, documented, measured, monitored and mitigated.
*Building effective relationships with the senior management team and functional business areas to develop individual risk profiles and articulate risks in a clear and consistent manner.
*Involvement with major change projects to ensure that compliance and regulatory requirements are understood and implemented.
*Facilitating risk assessments on complex issues to document the key risk themes and assess the potential impact on different areas of the business.
*Maintaining a broad cross functional view of issues within the business to share information and key learning's that could effect or improve the overall business objectives and performance agenda.
*Assisting, where appropriate, in major business risk events to ensure that the mitigating actions are identified and undertaken by the appropriate business owners.
*Increasing the awareness of business risk and the importance of embedding corporate governance to maintain a control culture in the business.
*Proactively encouraging cross SBU/SSU Risk teams communications, analysis and issue sharing
*Share accountability with the business for ensuring identification and required control of the prevailing risk profile.
*Liaise with the Governance Champions in managing and controlling the implementation of governance methodology within CRO
*Build and maintain the risk profile of material inherent operational risks throughout all processes through Detailed Risk and Control Assessments ensuring coverage of all organisational dimensions of the business
*Ensure business awareness of the risk profile, through regular engagement, securing ownership and accountability for risk as required mainly through process owners, Management Boards, Project Boards and committees
*Develop good relationships within these groups and ensure that business risk are viewed as positive and value-adding
*Ensure visible delivery of required 'risk process' -identification-mitigation-acceptance-closure
*Work so as to minimise unexpected or unwanted (outside appetite) risk events/exposures eg incidents, audit issues, previously undetected risks
