A Graduate Research Engineer (Embedded Systems) is required at Lightfoot, an innovative cleantech engineering in Chudleigh, Devon. The role will focus on developing vehicle and driver behaviour management and control systems. This graduate role is for 23 months initially.
Lightfoot® is a ground-breaking driver behaviour system that has been used by commercial vehicle fleets across the UK and internationally since 2011 and is now being rolled out to the consumer market. Like all our products, Lightfoot is continually evolving to meet our customers' requirements and, in order to assist in this, we are looking for a Research Engineer to join our Innovation and Engineering team.
The role will focus on developing vehicle and driver behaviour management and control systems. The successful applicant will develop and test complex control algorithms and innovative functionality to further enhance the product's capabilities and suitability for its expanding markets. Other duties include fault diagnosis, rectification, and validation.
Roles and responsibilities
- Inertial measurement systems
- Vehicle crash detection
- Development, programming and testing drivability implementations
- Trialling and developing new capabilities
- Data analysis to identify opportunities for product enhancement
- Working with the team on firmware development
- Ad-hoc bug fixing
- Documentation
Desired qualifications, skills and experience
- Embedded C/C++ programming experience
- Strong analytical skills required
- Experience using MATLAB beneficial
- Familiarity with DCM, Quaternions, other rotation representations beneficial
- Experience using IMUs and fusion algorithms beneficial
- Relevant sector experience useful
- Must have a full UK driving licence
