Implementation/Planning Manager - Customer Products - £450 per day

A top retail bank in Bristol currently requires an Implementation/Planning Managerto join a large transformation programme for an initial 6 month period.

Programme Overview

The Customer Products & Marketing (CP&M) division works across all areas of the business serving personal customers, including Retail, Insurance and Consumer Finance. Their focus is to ensure they deliver products that customers want and need, and to help the Group think about our customers in a more holistic and joined up way. They provide consistency and coherence across proposition design, pricing, customer insight and marketing, enabling them to be agile in responding to increasing competition and market changes. The ability to define and articulate how the use of data, insight, marketing and product propositions can support realising their vision is critical.

This role is in the Change Delivery team within the Delivery & Data business unit - Delivery & Data is at the heart of the Group becoming the Best Bank for Customers. They do this through putting customers and their data at the heart of the solutions they deliver. They think differently to deliver efficiently, collaboratively and innovatively. The purpose of Change Delivery team is to lead the delivery of change for Customer Products & Marketing.

The Business Change and Implementation Programme Manager role will fill a gap in current Change Delivery capability, providing an assurance role in planning, reporting and Governance. You will be working closely with the Head of Change Delivery, assuring they have robust plans across the portfolio (using Agile practices where appropriate), supporting the Programme Managers and Feature Owners in delivery and implementation of their plans and by providing key forecasting metrics at Programme and Portfolio level. This role will also be responsible for the training and development of the Change Delivery team in the effective use of planning and delivery using the tools available.

Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Deliverables

Planning:

  • Defines and implements the overall planning approach, obtains acceptance and buy-in to the approach from all stakeholders and ensures planning standards and guidelines are adhered to across project (s)/programme, providing guidance and coaching to colleagues as appropriate.
  • Provides Quality Assurance that detailed project/programme plans are in place to the right level of quality and that progress is monitored to project completion.

Programme/Project Overview:

  • Ensures all Business Case, Project Management Report (PMR) and Authority to Proceed (ATP) documentation is produced to Group Standards and ensures the effective close down of programmes and projects and the capture of lessons learnt through the Post Implementation Review (PIR).

Governance and Reporting:

  • Ensures clear, impartial, comprehensive and relevant visibility of cumulative status and progress at all necessary levels of the organisation, by co-ordinating the production and collation of status reports and relevant management information across projects and workstreams and ensuring the right level of quality is achieved.
  • Provides forecasting metrics at Programme and Portfolio level.

Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience of planning at portfolio level. - because this will include assurance of portfolio planning
  • Familiar with planning tools
  • Working with third party suppliers and managing stakeholders
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and developing others
  • Qualifications: MSP (Managing Successful Programmes), APMP or similar methodology; Expert planning skills is essential

Desirable Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • SharkTower or equivalent planning tool experience will be an advantage
