Description
Project
Our client, an international high-tech manufacturer, is massively expanding a semiconductor production site: several new buildings, multiple new production lines, two new high-availability server rooms and the integration of 1,000+ manufacturing tools. A strategic supplier delivers turnkey solution packages. We are looking for a senior Lead Architect on the client side who acts as technical design authority and challenges the supplier's solutions, working in tandem with an Infrastructure Project Manager.
Key facts
- Start: ASAP
- Duration: 12 to 18 months, extension likely
- Workload: full-time
- Location: 100% onsite in Kulim, Malaysia, local residence or relocation required (no weekly commuting)
- Language: English (business fluent)
- Contract: freelance or via your consultancy, time and material, monthly timesheet billing
Tasks
- Technical design authority for the full infrastructure scope: blueprint, design baseline, HLD and LLD, work packages and acceptance criteria
- Architecture across compute, OpenShift (HA), storage, backup, network, OT connectivity, identity, monitoring, automation and security
- Integration architecture and onboarding standards for 1,000+ production, engineering, automation, lab and facility tools (OT landscape from legacy systems up to Windows 11)
- Design assurance of supplier solutions regarding security, resilience, performance, capacity, lifecycle and cost
- Technical workshops, options assessments, design reviews and architecture decisions
- Support of procurement, testing, commissioning, acceptance and operational handover
Profile
- Substantial infrastructure or solution architecture experience in industrial or mission-critical environments
- Proven designs covering data centre, network, platforms, storage, backup, security and OT/IT integration at large scale
- Zero Trust and Zero Downtime principles (24/7 operation without regular maintenance windows)
- All production systems on-prem, hybrid cloud knowledge a plus
- TOGAF or comparable senior architecture certification (e.g. Red Hat Certified Architect, Cisco CCDE/CCIE, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect Expert, SABSA) or equivalent experience, ISA/IEC 62443 strongly advantageous
- Vendor flexibility: solid fundamentals count more than experience with one specific vendor
- Senior personality who keeps up with a very high pace, decides onsite and thinks out of the box
- Semiconductor background (AMHS, fault-tolerant systems) a plus, not a must
