Key Tasks and Deliverables for Senior Technician Engineer

Electrical:

  • Maintain the facility control and acquisition system including modifications to wiring and installation of new systems.
  • Design and build of new test equipment as required to support testing programmes. Installation of new equipment and electrical systems to meet the expanding needs of the group as required.
  • Creation and upkeep of wiring and system diagrams using computerised systems

Mechanical:

  • Design of racks and control panels as required meeting the expanding needs of the group.
  • Manufacture of panels and racks to suit new and existing designs
  • Modification of existing systems
  • Assembly of jigs and fixtures as required to support the operations of the group
  • Installation of cryo/vacuum systems related to a 5m diameter vacuum chamber to include thermal shroud panels, LN2 pipework, exhaust flanges Operations:
  • Work within the departments ISO9000 system.
  • Configure the relevant test facilities to meet the customer's needs.
  • Day to day running of the testing (when needed) including extended hours/nights/weekends.

Main Duties and Responsibilities for Senior Engineer (Electrical Systems)

  • To support the delivery of the engineering outputs to enhance capability and reputation and to repair, maintain and/or improve the quality of its products, services and advice to customers.
  • To support the development of work plans, including identification of improvements to systems, capabilities and/or process.
  • To use existing and emerging engineering practice to support the delivery of the work plans, which repair, maintain and/or improve systems and products and provide advice and services for the benefit of customers.
  • To contribute to the generation and presentation of documentation and reports internally and externally in order to meet the needs of the customer, including, maintaining capability, integrity, standards and/or communicating advice and knowledge and/or promoting reputation.
  • To support other team members to improve the effectiveness of the team.
  • To carry out continuing professional development in line with current and future needs.

Key Skills and Experience for Senior Engineer (Electrical Systems)

Essential for the Electrical Engineer:

  • Apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent, in Engineering or related subject
  • Experience of building and handling electrical systems
  • Experience of designing and documenting electrical systems
  • Experience of specifying and procuring equipment

Desirable of the Electrical Engineer:

  • HND or, or higher qualification in Engineering
  • Space testing qualification
  • Experience of handling aerospace components
  • Experience of working in cleanrooms
  • Experience of working with vacuum systems
