This role is a 1 year contract (plus extensions) in Etobicoke
General Accountabilities:
Primary Role:
Project Manager (PM) for telecom network infrastructure projects, including installation of fiber optic cables, and optical & data network (DWDM, SONET, MPLS, bulk Internet, transparent LAN, private line).
Secondary Role:
PM for IT Projects including developing and implementing new OSS/BSS (Operations Support Systems/Business Support Systems) solutions, business processes, and software & hardware upgrades.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- PM for various telecom and IT projects - using best practices from PMBOK (project Management Body of Knowledge) as guidelines.
- Assisting in PMO (project management office) duties including developing document templates, establishing processes, and enhancing the project management tools.
Selection Criteria Essential Competence:
- PMP accreditation
- At least 6 years of hands-on experience with telecom technologies and 3 years in IT
- Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or Telecommunications
- Excellent PMing skills (not just the Science but the Art of PMIng), effective listening, verbal and written communications skills.
- Proactive and Creative thinker
- Ability to work collaboratively throughout the project life cycle
Nice to have:
o Telecom Networking certifications (eg CCNA, CCNP)
o SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) experience
