IT Business Analyst

Summary:

The IT Business Analyst will be responsible for requirements gathering, business analysis, documentation, project planning, and communication of business unit technology and business process initiatives. This role will interact with all levels of the organization and requires strong analytical, creative, and intuitive thinking. The IT Business Analyst is responsible for the full life cycle of projects and initiatives from conception to post-adoption. The ideal candidate will need to possess strong knowledge of business process optimization, workflow design, project management, and business analysis concepts and methodologies. You will need to have implemented a project management tool in your previous experience, worked with 3rd party vendor resources, and have prior experience in a professional services/consulting industry. This is a 6 - 9 month contract opportunity in Alpharetta, and our client is READY TO HIRE!

Responsibilities:

  • Elicit business requirements using appropriate tools and techniques including but not limited to interviews, document analysis, surveys, site visits, use cases, scenarios, business process, task and workflow analysis.
  • Manage daily activities, user forums, issue resolution and communication across project and support teams in order to deliver projects and enhancements on time, on-budget, as requested by the customer.
  • Analyze and evaluate data gathered from multiple sources and distinguish user requests from underlying true needs.
  • Collaborate with business process owners to identify and maximize opportunities to use information and technology to improve product, service and business processes.
  • Engage with project stakeholders and motivate project team members toward common goals and objectives.
  • Prioritize and translate high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications.
  • Coordinate the development of all approved versions of business and functional specifications and review use cases and other documents with IT and the business to ensure all requirements are adequately reflected.
  • Model and manage requirements throughout the project life cycle authoring ongoing version and change control, tracking, traceability, etc.
  • Maintain project schedules and tracking life cycle phases; provide timely project status reporting back to stakeholders and project team members
  • Develop or contribute to Project Management deliverables and metric development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business and/or Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience translating business needs into functional business requirements.
  • Strong experience with Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and similar software
  • Strong understanding of automated testing, requirements analysis, and process model tools.
  • 6 years working experience in business analysis and project management in a demanding environment.
  • Prior experience in a development or data analyst role
  • Knowledge of the Opportunity to Invoice sales cycle/Order Mgmt life cycle a plus
  • May have access to Corporate, Customer, Supplier and/or Employee priority information, a Non-disclosure agreement is required.
  • Occasional travel
  • Occasional weekend and evening work as needed to support special projects

  • Must have strong critical thinking and analytical skills in order to solve complex problems
  • Must have strong data analysis skills, along with the capability to present data and results in clear, concise manner
  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as delivery skills for business timelines and presentations
  • Must have the ability to learn quickly and comprehend many technical and business concepts
