Our client is a globally active mechanical engineering company. Over the coming years, business processes across the whole enterprise will be redeveloped, unified and supported by appropriate ERP software. This is a major project across all divisions, levels and regions. At present, a large multi-national ERP team is being assembled for this purpose.As part of this team we are recruiting an IT Infrastructure Architect (m/f) with responsibility for architecting and designing the server, storage and network infrastructure and overseeing its implementation. In this contex, you take into account useful strengths of existing infrastructure(s) but also provide fresh input and drive a sensible unification across company divisions.
You will collaborate closely and constructively with other members of the ERP-Team as well as with existing infrastructure teams. You will be expected to feed the requirements, limits and opportunities of IT infrastructure into all project phases und thus contribute to overall success.
To be successful and comfortable in this role you need to do more than just execute defined tasks. You need to bring both the experience and the willingness to shape this complex and long-term project, including e.g. resolving conflicts between requirements and working with the unique perspectives of different user groups.
Required background:
Several years experience with architecting complex IT infrastructures in large-scale organisations
Management experience (formal or informal) within complex large-scale projects
Basic knowledge and interest in business processes; experience with at least one ERP project
Ability and desire to work with non-IT colleagues
Broad knowledge of existing technologies in Windows and Linux/Unix environments, virtualisation, storage, high availability, integration
Knowledge of best practice guidelines and ability to implement them in a pragmatic way
