Gulf Connexions Hong Kong is actively assisting a major airline (based in Hong Kong) in seeking a high-calibre Airport Systems Consultant (Project Manager). The airline is undergoing a significant IT infrastructure restructuring project and is actively pursuing professionals to fill key roles. This is an exceptional opportunity to partake in an exciting project that involves a significant transformation and expansion plan.

Solid experience working across a broad range of Airport Systems projects is mandatory. The ideal candidate would have completed Departure Control System (Amadeus Altea Suite) integration projects and possess strong communication & interpersonal skills, experience working across different cultures, and enterprise-level Airport IT vendor management experience.

On offer is a 12 month contract that pays between HKD80,000 - HKD100,000 per month. The package would also include 10 days of annual leave with 2 weeks of stay at the Airport hotel for overseas candidates.

Purpose:

To contribute operationally to the achievement of Information Management's business objectives by delivering project management services across the Airline's technology projects.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • The Project Manager is accountable to steering committee/IM Head, Airline Operation and Cargo/IM Head, Passenger/IM Head, Corporate and Back Office Operations/Project Management Practice Manager
  • Collaborate with Project Management Practice Manager to implement project
  • Management practice across all IT projects
  • Adopt necessary standard and best practices for project management and ensure compliance
  • Plans, directs and coordinates activities of technology projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters
  • Understands how to leverage applications for competitive advantage
  • Review project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations,
  • Procedures for accomplishing projects, negotiate staffing requirements to various project phases
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Manager/Portfolio Analyst/Enterprise Infrastructure Portfolio Manager/Infrastructure Portfolio Lead to drive business and technology Innovation to achieve business unit's strategic plan and business objectives
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Testing team to define the quality assurance test plans that meets the company practise and standard
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends in technology, ensure timely exploration and proactively communicate IM's position towards the introduction of relevant/key emerging technologies
  • Manage the dynamic project team of individuals who constantly search for creative way to elevate the capabilities of technology systems to meet business needs, partly by capitalizing on emerging technologies and partly by adopting technologies to the needs of the users
  • Foster a continuous learning and cross-team knowledge sharing culture among delivery groups
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle
  • Ability to influence senior executives

Decision Making Authority and/or Recommendations Expected

  • Decisions relating to assigned project delivery
  • Decisions relating development of specific project team

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of project management roles within IT with relevant experience
  • Experience in Airport Systems Projects (ie deployments/testing/validating operational systems)
  • Completed Departure Control System integration projects (Amadeus)
  • Ability to confidently and clearly interact with local airport staff, vendors and management in locations worldwide
  • Proven experience in managing projects with ability to multitask and manage multiple small to medium projects in a cross-functional environment
  • Detailed knowledge of the following disciplines: project delivery, Portfolio management, application development management, infrastructure Development management, vendor management
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and with relationship management experience and skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff and to apply skills and techniques To solve dynamic problems
  • Technical proficiency in hardware and system software, as well as experience Implementing packages and working with vendors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; expertise in setting and managing user expectations
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels
  • Ability to coach, motivate and develop others
