Description
Transmission Planning Lead Engineer Microwave Spectrum Usage 7+ Years Based in Helsinki and working remotely.
Key tasks:
- Be the key technical planning contact to customer
- Make discussions and seek agreement with customer on key transmission design inputs, such as:
o Microwave spectrum usage
o Equipment usage
o TDM/VLAN/IP/Quality of Service settings
o others
- Translate the agreements into transmission planning templates to be used by the team
- Carry out tasks of Transmission Planning engineer
o Evaluate capacities of existing links, and design upgraded links if required
o Microwave planning of mobile base station last mile transmission links o Creating Line of Sight survey requests
o Evaluating Line of Sight survey results and finalise design o TDM timeslot planning to the hub
o VLAN allocation
o IP address allocation and basic IP routing design
o L2/L3 Quality of Service settings
- Provide guidance to team members
Requirements:
- Demonstrated consultative approach to working with clients, have strong ability and willingness to listen, understand, respond, and act
- 7+ years transmission planning experience for a mobile network(s)
o Played technical lead role in transmission planning for minimum 2 years
o Experience in defining transmission planning guidelines for mobile backhaul, covering L1, l2 and L3, is a big plus
o Strong Microwave planning experience
o Strong TDM cross-connect/MUX planning experience
o Strong working knowledge of IP/VLAN/Quality of Service principles and parameters, ideally with CCNP or similar/higher qualifications
o Experience working in more than one mobile operator environments, ideally in different countries
o Experience with operator transmission planning processes
o Familiar with radio network planning processes and their interaction with transmission planning
- Strong knowledge in features/functionalities of TDM and Packet Switched radios
- Strong knowledge in TDM equipment (Cross-connect/MUX/etc) and configuration
- Experience in utilising Asset-Connect for transmission planning purposes, other tools beneficial
