On behalf of our high profile client, I am looking for a MCAD Designer for a long etrm contract.

Mechanical Engineering Tasks:
Working within the MCAD design team to develop and detail working designs
To complete Structures & Subsystems designs using 3D modelling tools
Complete manufacturing drawings to enable the designs to be manufactured and support of manufacturing activities and inspections
Complete Interface Control Drawings
Able to apply sound mechanical design principles in developing designs.
Documenting and implementing design changes using Engineering Change Notices (ECN)
Writing detailed assembly procedures and technical build information
Create PCB board outlines and liaise with the ECAD team to ensure compatibility with printed circuit assemblies

Analysis Tasks:
Undertake structural analysis using FEA (desirable but not essential)

General Tasks:
Support manufacturing activities
Develop the Bill of Materials to allow the MRP system to reflect the completed instrument
Liaise with suppliers to find suitable production solution to complex components.

Other Requirements:
Flexibility and willingness to support other teams/disciplines within the department in
areas such as Propulsion, Mechanisms and Optical Instruments
Flexibility to support at more than one site on occasion

Essential Requirements:
Qualifications A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience Demonstrate experience of the design of mechanical systems in an aerospace or
similar high technology environment.
Relevant experience in some or all of the following areas is essential:
Materials and manufacturing processes
Precision engineering in harsh environments
Mechanical design using 3D CAD
FE analysis (desirable but not essential)
Report writing
Costing and subcontracting
Customer liaison
Operation in a quality assured environment

Knowledge & Skills
Good experience using SolidWorks CAD tool
Ideally a user of FEA packages (ANSYS Workbench or similar)
Competent in MS Office suite
High attention to detail
Flexible; able to work on a variety of projects/tasks
Good time management
Good team working skills and communication skills
Ability to plan and manage own work
Highly self-motivated
