Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Peterborough
Duration: Contract
Pay Rate: £35/hr. Outside IR35

To work for a global leader in petrol and diesel engine manufacturing that offers the widest choice of dependable, cutting-edge power solutions customised to our clients' exact specifications, iO Associates is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer. Through a global network of distributors and dealers, they provide engines, parts, and service support to the agricultural, construction, industrial, power generating, rental, material handling, and marine sectors.

As a team they produce a wide variety of designs (including couplings, flywheels, engine rigging schemes, rigging equipment, canopies, building layouts and many more) to support multi-platform engine testing in ERDC. Many of their designs are bespoke and follow the Caterpillar design practices. Type of work can be a simple design job like designing a plate to designing complex equipment for test bed upgrades and engine testing.

Required Skills

  • CREO and Teamcenter proficiency for design. Basic AutoCAD.
  • Relevant calculations where necessary. (Bolts stress calculations, Shaft suitability etc)
  • Lead design reviews and participate in design discussions and reviews.
  • Wider system knowledge. (Example: - coupling design (Impact of inertia), Look at the bigger picture)
  • Built in safety as part of design. Conducting FMEA, SFMEA & safety risk assessments.
  • Approachable and friendly with a focus on efficiency and velocity.
