£36.00 - £44.00 per hour

My Client a well known manufacturing company based in Cambridge are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer
to work as a core member of a multidisciplinary design and development team, contributing and taking responsibility for the design and development of new products through successful product delivery and manufacture.
KEY TASKS/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Create appropriate requirements and specification for products sub-systems and components.
Generate and develop concepts and ideas to resolve technical challenges
Create 3D models and 2D drawings of product and components ensuring compliance with internal drawing and geometrical tolerance standards;
Maintain a sound theoretical approach to design by ensuring that relevant calculations or simulations are performed to support the functional requirements prior to prototyping;
Perform exercises such as FMEA, DFM, DFx, Risk assessment as required to ensure successful design.
Identify components and sub-assemblies that can be reused across other products, modifying items and specifications where appropriate and developing tests to ensure full compatibility;
Specify and approve first-run prototype components against criteria agreed with sourcing team;
Liaise with sub-contractors and suppliers regarding the procurement and specification of components for use in the development projects;
Design, perform, document tests at component and system level.
Identify problems, evaluate options and formulate elegant solutions; taking cost, benefits, safety, quality, reliability, appearance and environmental impact into account;
Demonstrate drive and energy in achieving project goals.
