Job Title: Oil and Gas IT Business AnalystWhat we're looking for
Business Analysts who can capture functional and non-functional IT requirements and work with business and IT stakeholders to establish a clear definition of scope. Candidates must have Oil and Gas experience and be able to identify and document requirements, understanding how the requirements map to the technical solution whilst ensuring that the capabilities of the software are considered. Successful candidates will apply both functional knowledge and technical expertise during requirements analysis to deliver comprehensive solutions.
Job Description:
The general responsibilities of the Sr. Business Analyst are to help the core team develop analytical tools for Drilling, Completions, and/or Production Engineers and Techs. This position also works closely with development team to ensure the specs are translated into product properly and presents the solution to end users. This position is also responsible for training, creating documentation, and support.
This specific position will be working on developing a new product that will help Production Engineers optimize production on theirs wells by generating downtime and failure analysis. This position will work closely with the Engineering / Tech group to understand and identify business needs for Production Optimization and Well Surveillance, and then translate those needs into spec documents for the development team.
Requirements:
- Education or experience equivalent to a four year degree from an accredited college or university, with emphasis either in information technology either in business/finance.
- A minimum of five to eight years technical and/or professional experience.
- Oil and Gas Experience is required. Exposure to Drilling, Completion, and/or Production Operations preferred if you have an IT background.
- Exposure to IT if you have an Oil&Gas/business background
- For this specific position, experience with Upstream Production Applications is required. Experience with developing applications for Artificial Lift Systems Optimization is a plus.
- Experience of using Wellview, spotfire, and OFM
- Developing spec documents; designing work flow charts and process maps using Visio; use cases; prototyping; and software testing
- Supporting both in-house and 3rd party applications
Working knowledge of relational databases (Oracle) - The ability to query either with SQL or query/reporting tools (TOAD, Crystal Reports)
- Project management experience is a plus
