Role Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and collaborative team player to join the Digital Engineering team as a Senior Network Platform Engineer, to assist with the delivery of customer eCommerce Offerings and engineering of eCommerce Infrastructure technologies.
The responsibilities will include:
- Gain an understanding of customer standards; Focusing on external eCommerce Web Application/Service Delivery
- Gain an understanding of the eCommerce Infrastructure Operations Support requirements for on-boarding new systems
- Engineering of eCommerce Infrastructure technologies
- Creation of technical design's for eCommerce Application/Services
- Systems are allocated a classification rating that determines the sensitivity of the data in the system and Service Level Expectation ( SLE ); Ensure the system design meets the audit/compliance/availability requirements for the assigned classification rating
- Review deployment documentation for all eCommerce Infra components from App/Dev and ensure it has the correct level of detail to complete the builds. Provide constructive feedback if the build documents need to be updated.
- Provide a base build for the dev environment for the system and handover to the App/Dev teams
- Build the UAT environment(s) for the system and manage all updates to the eCommerce Infra during the migration phase of the system
- Create technical test plans and record results for the eCommerce infrastructure components and engage the App/Dev teams to assist with conducting these tests
- Create technical implementation plan/run books for system deliveries
- Work with the PM to create the Operation Level Agreement (OLA) procedures for the system - ensure sign off is received from the Operations support team
- Provide a handover for each system to the Operations Support team - ensure sign off is received
- Assist the Operations Support team with the Production builds
- Provide Operations support for a warranty period once a migration of a system is complete
- Provide 2nd/3rd line support of the global eCommerce, Staff Internet and Intranet environments
- Application code deployment and change implementation across the global eCommerce estate
Essential Experience: (Must have skills)
- Knowledge of the delivery of infrastructure products and services to Application Delivery functions, including strong generalist infrastructure knowledge
- Good understanding of infrastructure technologies that must include Web services; Internet, WAN and LAN Networking; Information Security, Linux (Red Hat) and Windows Servers
- 5+ years' experience of a similar senior position within an enterprise environment
- Solid experience of working in a high-pressure, large-scale, global environment
- A thorough appreciation of technology and its value to the business
- Experience of working with Application Development and business teams
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Solid understanding of distributed multi-tier web architectures
- Solid understanding of change control procedures and incident reporting methodologies
- Provide a view of the technical risk through the introduction of change
- Identification of areas for improvement within the group; automation, process or tooling
Essential Technical Experience:
- Cisco/Check Point/Fortinet Firewall experience
- Web Application Firewall (WAF) experience
- Citrix NetScaler & F5 GTM/LTM Load Balancing and Application Switching technologies (High Availability; Routing; GSLB etc.)
- DNS related technologies and solutions
Desirable Experience:-
- Advanced excel skills (Use of Pivot tables, Macros, VLookups)
- Experience of supporting Java EE platforms (JBOSS, WebSphere Administration).
- Server Load Balancer and Application Switching technologies (ie (Citrix NetScaler or F5 BigIP).
- Proxy/Cache appliances (ie BlueCoat or NetCache).
- E xperience of portal technologies
- Application-Layer or XML Firewall technologies
- XML, XSLT and SOAP technologies.
- PKI, LDAP & Single Sign On Technologies
