Description
- Responsible for concept, initial and detailed design, technical services and project management of new build and conversion projects.
- All activities to be carried out under the companies Quality Assurance system
- Reviewing and approving design drawings and calculations
- Assisting with process of shipyard procurements to include shipyard assessment and review of build contracts
- Attending commissioning HATs & SATs
- Preparation of new build specifications for vessels of varying types as well as robust refit and conversion specifications.
- Carry out the development and supervision of design studies and provision of technical services, to include:
- Assessment of structural design
- FEA analysis
- Stability analysis, intact and damage
- Powering and propulsion studies
- CFD Analysis and model tests
- Structural fire protection
- HVAC
- Ensure that project work and all documentation is undertaken to the highest standard and in accordance with the company's Quality Management System.
- Undertake the preparation of proposals and bid documents. Working in both the technical elements plus the costing and budgeting elements required by such proposals.
- Undertake site surveys either individually or part of a team. Site activities would include, but not be limited to, deadweight surveys, inclining experiments, construction site visits.
- Work closely with the client / owner's representative and establish a solid working relationship. Understand their needs for each project and strive to provide a service that translates that into subsequent designs and ultimate construction.
- Ensure full client support is given with clear guidance on current legislation and regulatory constraints.
- Production of all reports and documentation to a high technical standard in a clear and concise manner. The ability to prepare documentation in clear written English is an essential requirement for this role.
