I'm recruiting on behalf of a prestigious client, one of the largest energy trading operations in the world, for a Product Manager to join a growing team who are taking a product-centric view of IT delivery. This role will help the business improve their visibility of risk exposure and risk control measure management in what are complex markets.
The Job Role
As Product Manager you will be accountable for realising the business vision of data-driven market analysis and operations. You will help define the business vision in terms of product KPIs, driving delivery towards optimising these KPIs, and take accountability for the commercial and technical performance of the product as measured through these KPIs.
You will ensure that business value is delivered each increment by partnering closely with the Product Owner to generate the Product Vision, roadmap, and strategy
You will work closely with a Technical Lead to direct delivery of the product, taking ultimate accountability for ensuring that the product is fit for purpose and functionally sound ("right features at the right time"), applying agile delivery practices.
Your Experience
As an experienced Product specialist with commodities experience you will offer strong knowledge of trading and market drivers for Power commodities (gas, power, and environmental products). This would include the importance of fundamentals (supply/demand/capacity/inventory/prices/trades/etc.) in market price movements.
You should offer knowledge of fundamental modelling and curve trading, including the use of statistical analysis in predictive models for supply/demand and price forecasting.
Your knowledge of Agile and Lean practices will be backed up by experience across multiple methodologies (scrum, Kanban, XD) and with at least one scaling framework.
From this experience you will be able to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use and be able to recognise when something does not work and encourages a mindset of experimentation.
Adaptability, ability to reflect and resilience are important behaviours you can rely on.
In addition, any knowledge of the below would strengthen your application;
- Operational Risk (eg Cashflow to date, Scorecard to Financial, PnL, Inventory tracking)
- Market Risk (eg Daily VaR, Historic VAR Comparison, Stress Scenario Tests, etc.)
- Credit Risk (eg Credit Concentration/Diversification, Historic & Projected Credit Returns)
- Liquidity Risk (eg Margin-at-Risk)
