Description
Project Accountant - Finance Consultant required for a leading global defence company based in the Portsmouth area. We are looking for a project accountant with business facing experience, need to have strong commercial awareness and need to have worked in a business facing environment. Able to read contracts and work on pricing.
Main Accountabilities
Review and Control
- To liaise with operational management and provide accounting support, cost control, systems development and procedural control as required.
- Work on monthly management accounts.
- Review and ensure customer billing is in line with contracts. Provide support and direction to resolve issues as required.
- Ensure Policy and best practice is followed to ensure that there are no external or internal audit queries.
Contract Accounting
- To produce timely and accurate financial information for the contracts, including contract management accounts, forecast information, annual financial budgets and assumptions
- To produce analysis and commentary on the performance of the contracts for inclusion in the Finance monthly report, Contract Review reports, Programme review reports and any other as required.
- To support in the preparation of the contract risk register.
- To provide accurate and effective management information for the contract.
- To ensure all control accounts are reconciled to relevant contract related balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- To provide all financial support required for reporting against the contract eg provision of KPIs and contract performance measures (CPMs).
- Provide Finance support for pricing/implementation of new business as required
Financial Support
- To ensure that the contract balance sheets are reconciled and controlled.
- Review of the debtors and creditors including ageing and issue resolution.
- To provide any further reports as required.
Essential Skills:
- Previous Finance Accounting experience
- Business Facing Experience
- Contract Project accounting experience
- Project accounting experience
- Qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, good knowledge of MS Office, competent user of Financial recording systems (eg Navision) and any associated systems
- Must have current SC or be able to obtain UK SC Clearance
