Project Director

Darwin Engineering are currently looking for an experienced Project Director to join a specialist data centre commissioning partner on a major mission-critical data centre project in Finland.

Project Focus

• Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the full Quality Commissioning (QCx) scope across a major data centre project.
• Provide strategic leadership and direction across all commissioning, engineering and quality assurance activities.
• Oversee commissioning strategies, project execution plans and delivery milestones.
• Ensure mechanical, electrical and critical infrastructure systems are commissioned to the highest standards.
• Provide oversight of FAT, SAT, IST and integrated systems commissioning activities.
• Manage senior stakeholders, contractors, engineering teams and project management personnel.
• Monitor project performance, budgets, schedules, KPIs and commissioning progress.
• Identify and manage project risks, technical challenges and potential programme delays.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, quality assurance procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
• Drive commissioning best practices, technical excellence and operational readiness.
• Oversee coordination with facility grid infrastructure and associated project requirements.

Key Skills and Experience Required

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years' experience in commissioning, engineering or mission-critical project environments.
• Proven experience in senior leadership or Project Director positions within data centres or critical infrastructure.
• Strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering systems.
• Extensive knowledge of Quality Commissioning (QCx), quality assurance and commissioning methodologies.
• Experience overseeing FAT, SAT, IST and integrated systems commissioning.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, BMS, building services and critical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of facility grid infrastructure and associated requirements.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and strategic decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects, multiple contractors and large engineering teams.

• Candidates must be self-employed and able to operate on a contract/freelance basis.
• Must hold an EU passport or have existing unrestricted eligibility to work in Finland/EU.
• No visa sponsorship can be offered.
