Our Client, one of Europe`s largest and fastest-growing renewables generating companies, is currently urgently looking for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Project Engineer.

The UK Team is responsible for the development and delivery of a significant investment programme in new build and existing asset enhancement hydro projects.

An experienced Mechanical & Electrical Project Engineer is required to manage a �£5 million hydro refurbishment project in North Wales. The scope of the project is to replace a turbine, generator and the associated switchgear, transformer and ancillary works. The project will be delivered through the management of several contracts as well as utilising internal resources.

The role will run from Autumn 2012 with close-out occurring during the first few months of 2014.


The successful candidate will have a proven track record in project engineering and commissioning of generating plant and ancillary systems. Experience of electrical and C&I system design would be a distinct advantage, as would experience of hydro power projects.

The following are essential to the role:

* Knowledge and experience of UK Health Safety and Environmental legislation, management of safe systems of work and safe working practices near operational assets.
* Sufficient experience to review contractors design and installation proposals and ensure these comply with our specification and standards. This will require liaison with our operation and maintenance staff.
* Management and co-ordination of design concepts and interfaces between multiple contractors design teams.
* Capable of carrying out design risk assessments (eg. HAZOPs)
* Project management experience, sufficient to support the Project Director and Techincal Officer for the Switchgear contract and deputise on occasion.
* Experience of operating within and implementing Safe Systems of Work, sufficient to support station staff and the site manager when developing and implementing isolation plans
* Review contractors QA plans and arrange witness tests where necessary
* Review test and commissioning processes proposed by the contractors. Co-ordinate the commissioning activities between the contractors, producing higher-level procedures and programs where necessary.
* History of successful delivery of key targets.
* Good communication skills to liaise with all parties to resolve issues swiftly with minimal programme impact.
* Good of understanding of mechanical, C&I and electrical standards and specifications with respect to generating plant and ancillary systems.
