Robson Bale are looking for a French, Dutch and English speaking QA Chapter Lead to come on board for an initial 6 month contract, in Mechelem.

6 months, market rate

Candidates MUST speak French, Dutch and English for this role

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Leading, developing and/or expanding a self-managing, coherent Chapter community (of internal test leads and external testers) with strong competencies that enable rapid and flexible support for the organization and rapidly changing goals. Acting as a servant leader and in this way helps people to organize themselves and facilitates the work environment that is needed for this.
  • Organizing, stimulating and supporting the qualitative knowledge transfer and/or reskilling, know-how building and the personal development of the members of the QA Chapter. Understand and identify their capacities and needs and align them with the wider context to propose/implement the most appropriate actions. This is to enable the QA Chapter to determine how to best use their competencies to achieve the broader strategy.
  • Provide targeted, constructive, temporary feedback and/or coaching to the Chapter Test Leads to drive their growth and quickly correct and prevent errors or discrepancies in the future. Building a culture of self-learning and continuous self-improvement
  • Encourage smart use of resources and ensure that the right people are deployed to maximize opportunities for value creation. In addition, as part of the resourcing strategy (in line with the broader strategy), manage optimal allocation of personnel budgets. This also means that external (offshore) partners, suppliers, etc. can be recruited, managed and/or guided and that Agile Way of Working (TAWOW) can be taken on board by the Chapter Lead. Negotiating the contracts with those partners. Prepare, manage and review personnel and/or if applicable project budgets.
  • Establish professional standards about "how" people work and "what" people do and that provide people with the tools and standard approaches to deliver functional excellence and ensure consistency.
  • Act as an ambassador of the QA Chapter as well as agile culture throughout the organization, align with different stakeholders and anchor the agreements in the organization.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Describe the need for knowledge and expertise about how different parts of the organization work together to achieve the business objectives. Explain the required degree of understanding of competitors' activities, the commercial environment and the products and services.
  • Have strong (technical) knowledge in Software QA processes and tools and/or in leadership/people management
  • Be well acquainted with the agile methodology and the flexible way of working together.
  • To have knowledge of Agile way of working and context, to understand the full meaning of cross-Tribe/Squad interdependencies, escalations and requests, personal and professional dynamics and assess their impact on the Chapter.
  • Define professional standards and working methodologies within the jurisdiction of the chapter.
  • Troubleshooting: Describe the nature and complexity of the problems that keep recurring in this feature. Provide information about the level of innovation required, if applicable, and state the environmental factors that can add to the complexity of solving the problems.
  • Hierarchical supervision of a chapter. That implies people management.
  • Recruit new talents (both internal and external), give feedback and coach the people, stimulate the personal development of the members of your Chapter.
  • Inspiring and encouraging people to develop themselves by coaching them both professionally and personally.
  • Create and improve methodologies, tools and processes to harmonize and create knowledge champions, tries to reach a higher level, does not accept the status quo.
  • Ensuring proper utilization of people, resources and budgets.
  • Nature & Area of Impact: To what extent does this function affect the company (ie through interactions with customers, making decisions, defining or developing strategy, etc.) What is the breadth of impact that this position has, positive or negative (ie, impact on own team, department, function, SLT, geography, entire company, etc.)
  • Ensuring compliance with company-level standards and best practices and applicability of particular processes.
  • Take responsibility for the training, development and performance management of Chapter members; this includes the development of a consistent how and what by defining the method and the quality requirements of the results.
  • Build and provide a platform for Chapter members to actively share experiences and best practices. Expose best practices and help people turn them into toolkits ready for implementation.
  • Preparing personnel decisions (with Product Owners and/or Scrum Masters) and coordinating with the Chapter Area (or Tribe) Leads.
  • Enabling staffing at Chapter and Squad level to ensure that Chapter members are deployed in Squads that best suit their individual capabilities (and help them achieve their full potential).
  • Ensuring optimal distribution of Chapter members across the Squads to help the Chapters achieve their business goals. Align well with the priorities and goals of the Tribe.
  • Taking up budgetary responsibility and ownership.

Contacts/Interpersonal skills:

  • Describe the nature and level of contacts that this position has with others, both internally and externally. Explain the specific interpersonal skills required to perform this function successfully (ie negotiation skills, representing the company at outside events or government agencies, etc.).
  • Together with the Product Owners, Agile Coaches, Scrum Masters and/or Centers of Excellence, help the Chapter to be more successful by focusing on craftsmanship, improving and sharing the way we work and creating a high performing team.
