Regional Sanctions Advisory Lead
This role will be dealing with all of HSBC's regulated entities and business lines within European region, with a particular focus on supporting the Global Banking and Markets (GBM) teams. This will be located in London in the GBM sanctions advisory team.
The successful candidate would be responsible for, but not limited too;
- Support the GBM advisory manager and UK and Regional Head of Sanctions Advisory on the GBM sanctions advisory team, acting as a subject-matter expert (SME) on Sanctions legislation, regulation and compliance.
- Supporting the in-country sanctions teams within the Region with particular focus on the GBM led countries.
- Supporting the transition merging the UK GBM work into the regional work stream
- Gaining good relationships with the business and relationship managers
- SME on sanctions risk management and compliance with sanctions regimes imposed by the UK, European Union (EU), United Nations (UN), HKMA and USA, and HSBC Group sanctions policy.
- Analyse information, identify and track issues, and determine/address themes arising from regulators, the Monitor and the Compliance exception reporting processes.
- Maintain regular contact with FCC and GBM LoB functions.
- Assist with identifying and supporting remedial action from relevant findings.
- Support on training.
Knowledge & Experience
- Deep understanding of UK/EU/UN/US sanctions
- Sanctions advisory experience
- Experience in carrying out sectoral sanction reviews and deep-dives
- Experience dealing with breaches and high risk exposures
- Experience managing a team of advisors or lawyers
- Good understanding of the FCA rules and all other relevant legislation and guidance
- Experience dealing with OFAC and understanding of legislation
- Proven analytical skills, together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
