Risk Assessor (PUWER)

A Risk Assessor with industrial machinery experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our defence client based in Cumbria.

This is a 6 month contract with a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Risk Assessor (PUWER) contract role

You will be required to undertake a defined range of Risk Assessment activities.

  • Carry out PUWER assessments on industrial machinery ranging from standard workshop equipment through to bespoke large industrial heavy plant equipment.
  • Mobile Plant including MWEP's and Forklifts
  • Compressors, air handling units, pump sets, etc.
  • Liaise with contractors required to carry out machinery upgrades.
  • Liaise with user and maintenance departments
  • Report on progress against programme

Key skills required for the Risk Assessor (PUWER)

  • The individual must have a proven background in Health and Safety legislation with a relevant professional qualification. IOSH Certificate or NEBOSH certified
  • The Individual must have had previous experience and be competent in carrying out and completing risk assessments in addition to PUWER assessments.
  • Self-motivated and good time management. Good communicator as you will be dealing with shop floor personnel, department management, health and safety advisors and subject specialists.
  • Previous heavy industry experience along with evidence of machinery assessment/carrying out risk assessment
  • Previous experience in the use of work shop machinery. eg bench drills, grinders, saw's, lathes. Etc.
  • Previous experience in the operation of MWEP's and Forklifts.
  • Previous experience of workshop management or implantation of PUWER.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District.
