SC Cleared Production Technician

£10-25 per hour
12 months +

My Secure Government client are currently looking for an experienced SC Cleared Production Technician to join their established team on a long term assignment.

Please not that current SC clearance is preferred but not essential, as long as you are willing to undergo this level of clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

oAssist in the design and production of specialist equipment.
oProduce prototype equipment to specifications provided and develop into production versions.
oConcept design, idea general and mechanical engineering problem solving.
oProvide expertise on engineering production techniques.
oProduce engineering devices, assemblies and components using CAD/CAM/CNC systems.
oMechanical construction work including inspection, testing and design as required.
oProvide expertise in tool-making, assembly, fitting and tolerances.
oProduce components and assemblies in a wide variety of engineering materials including metal, wood, plastics and composites.
oLiaise with internal staff and external industry-based subcontractors.
oGive assistance to staff with experimental trials work as required.
oProvide reactive engineering support to external customers requiring a rapid turn-round of specialist equipment.
oObtain quotations. Visit external suppliers to progress and collect work.
oEnsure machine shop and associated areas are kept clean, tidy and adhere to health and safety rules, as defined by the business.
oLiaise with customers for requirements and specifications.

Skills

Essential
*Mechanical engineering concept generation, ideas and problem solving.
*Broad industrial skills in a range of manufacturing sectors
*Manual milling and turning
*Precision engineering experience
*CNC Lathes and CNC milling machines and a wide range of conventional workshop machinery.
*Sheetmetal work, bending and forming.
*Engineering materials including metals, plastics and timber.
*Conventional engineering hand tools.
*Toolmaking and fitting techniques.
*Welding and bonding techniques.
*Painting, plating and finishing techniques.
*Knowledge of precision machining, engineering fits and tolerances
*Working closely with CAD design engineers
*Lots of initiative and the ability to resolve issues quickly without supervision

Desirable
*Ideally time served apprenticeship.
*HNC/HND
*Familiarity with a CAM package
*Experience of working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment
*Laser engraving
