Senior AWS Data Engineer (Snowflake)

Location: Remote (candidates must be based in Spain, Portugal, Croatia or Poland)
Duration: Initially until end of fiscal year, but will extend to Sept 2027

This role will play a critical part in delivering and scaling data platforms, analytics solutions, and data products across a diverse portfolio of strategic energy and digital transformation initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in AWS data services, extensive experience with Snowflake, and strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities, particularly using AWS CDK. You will work across multiple concurrent projects in a large multinational enterprise environment, collaborating with business stakeholders, architects, data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to build robust, scalable, and secure data solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who thrives in complex environments, takes ownership of outcomes, and can operate independently while influencing technical direction across multiple programs.

What You'll Do
  1. Design, build, and support scalable cloud-native data platforms on AWS.
  2. Develop robust data pipelines, data lake, and lakehouse solutions using AWS and Snowflake.
  3. Deliver Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK as a core engineering practice.
  4. Work across multiple data and analytics projects, partnering with architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders.
  5. Drive best practices in Data Engineering, DataOps, security, automation, and cloud architecture.
  6. Mentor team members and contribute to technical leadership within the Energy Digitalization portfolio.

What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
  1. 5+ years of Data Engineering experience.
  2. Strong hands-on experience with AWS Data & Analytics services, including:
  3. EMR, Glue, S3, Lambda, SageMaker, Athena, Step Functions, Redshift, Kinesis, Lake Formation
  4. Extensive experience with Snowflake including data modelling, performance optimisation, and large-scale data processing.
  5. Proven experience delivering Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK.
  6. Strong Python and SQL development skills.
  7. Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
  8. Deep understanding of cloud architecture, data lakes, data warehousing, and distributed data processing.
Desirable
  1. Experience within Energy, Utilities, Industrial, or Digital Transformation programmes.
  2. AWS and/or Snowflake certifications.
  3. Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and MLOps environments.
