For a six months project at our banking client’s site in Zurich we are looking for a

Senior Data Architect for Banking Operations IT (2629)

As a part of the Operations IT strategy and architecture team you will contribute to the development of the Operations IT target architecture and work with key projects to ensure progress towards that target. The successful candidate will act as an interface between the Ops IT architecture and the providers who are responsible for implementing projects to implement the target architecture. The role will also include working with the PB/WM & SHS IT architecture team to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles and standards and to influence them to ensure that they work for Operations IT. For the right candidate there will be the opportunity to progress to manage additional regions and/or to become the global chief architect for Operations.

The Role will cover the following:

Responsibility for supporting Operations IT activities requiring data architecture, including analysis of data sourcing for reporting purposes, producing an inventory of golden sources, developing governance around those sources, and working with appropriate stakeholders in developing / adapting an new or existing data models that may be impacted.
Where required, creation and evolution of data architecture polices and standards.
Participation in Design Authority / Steering Committee reviews to ensure data architecture alignment and to facilitate issue resolution and communication.
Identification of re-use opportunities and promote the re-use of data sources and models across Operations IT Strategy architecture generally.
Provision of consultancy and guidance to application development teams concerning data architectural best practices, policies and standards.
Ensure that development groups fully understand the impact of changes around data architecture and communicates this to senior management.
Tracking and Promotion of emerging trends within data architecture to address specific objectives.
Support Operations Business where necessary around data modelling, governance, or infrastructure issues.

The Skills you bring:

Good data architecture and development experience
Strong knowledge of current and future technologies
Experience of setting architectural strategies/policies and implementing governance models to enforce such strategies
Applications development utilising disparate technologies and integrating heterogeneous systems particularly those of a non-web based nature
Objected Oriented analysis and design skills
Experience of architecting/implementing solutions utilising recognised design and architecture patterns
Development utilising modern techniques for data transport and storage
Confident, assertive and effective communicator
Operations business process knowledge (one or more of the following: trading, settlement, clearing, liquidity cash, etc.)
Experience with offshore development
Motivated and enthusiastic team player, strong communication skills and a conceptual working approach
Ability to gain consensus when faced with differing views
Excellent documentation skills
Knowledge of formal architectural modelling methods and tools such as UML and Enterprise Architect
Good knowledge and practical experience of using Enterprise integration patterns
Experience of architecting/implementing solutions utilizing recognized design and architecture patterns
Fluency in English (German is an advantage not a requirement)
