Looking for a candidate with a minimum of 3-4 years experience working in a Desktop Support role. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual looking to join a cutting edge team. The candidate must have the technology expertise to diagnose, formulate and execute solutions in a finite period of time. The individual must be a team player, while also being able to work unsupervised. The individual must have the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel and have a flexible approach to tackling various application issues. Fast and cool thinking, client oriented characteristics are key indicators of successful desk side technicians. The candidate must be able to under pressure, have great communication skills, be a team player, be open minded to changes, as well as being a hard worker. The candidate must also be eager to learn as well as being a quick learner.

This is a Monday - Friday position and candidates must have flexibility with their working hours. Typical work hours are 8am - 6pm but candidates must be willing to come in earlier or work later if needed, Occasional weekends as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and process requests for support from the Service desk, or directly from clients.
  • Provide technical advice on all applications and services that are specified in the Products and Services Catalogue.
  • Ensure that all requests for support are acted upon in a timely and professional manner and escalated as necessary.
  • Ensure that a user experiences minimal disruption by quickly resolving technology problems.
  • Provide ad hoc user training on various desktop technologies to improve client effectiveness.
  • Identify risks to the client or business and implement solutions to reduce them
  • Advise clients proactively on the best use of the existing technology.

Essential Skills:

  • Expertise in Microsoft operating systems (Win XP & Win 7)
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite including Outlook 2007
  • Familiar with IT infrastructure components and the various related technologies, like multicast networks, TCP/IP troubleshooting, DNS (DHCP/Static IP)
  • Must be familiar with virtual machine administration.
  • Familiar with web proxies, and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of Active Directory
  • Understanding of Windows and Unix mixed environment support
  • In depth knowledge of Windows registry
  • Knowledge of collaboration platforms
  • Familiarity with the latest hardware platforms including multi processor & multi monitor setups
  • Familiarity with mobile platforms technologies such as BlackBerry, iPhone, iPad
  • College degree in computer science or similar discipline
