Location: Remote
Contract Type: Freelance / B2B Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Initial contract until September 2026

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Kubernetes SME (AWS EKS) to support the design, automation, and management of cloud infrastructure for a large-scale digital transformation programme within the energy sector.
This role focuses on building scalable, secure AWS environments using Infrastructure-as-Code, alongside supporting CI/CD pipelines and containerised workloads.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform
  2. Manage and optimise AWS environments with a focus on scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency
  3. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments
  4. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
  5. Collaborate with development and architecture teams to ensure smooth delivery processes
  6. Perform Kubernetes operations including deployments, namespace management, and troubleshooting
  7. Ensure infrastructure adheres to security and compliance best practices
  8. Produce and maintain technical documentation

Required Skills and Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  2. Minimum 4+ years’ experience in software engineering or DevOps roles
  3. Strong AWS expertise (5+ years), including networking and multi-account environments
  4. Proven experience with Terraform (3+ years)
  5. Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI or Azure DevOps
  6. Working knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS, deployments, services, troubleshooting)
  7. Solid understanding of cloud security, networking, and load balancing

Additional Desirable Experience
  1. Experience working in large-scale or enterprise cloud environments
  2. Familiarity with secrets management and container-based deployments (e.g. Nginx)
  3. Strong problem-solving and communication skills
