Senior Reporting Analyst - Lab Applications

Job Description

The Senior Reporting Analyst for Lab Applications supports core functions of the hospital's laboratory systems by designing and the developing complex reporting solutions that support the operational and management needs of various lab functions and user groups.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of reporting applications; including 24/7 on call coverage as required.
  • Modify tables/master files (additions and changes) as required and/or develop processes whereby users perform data maintenance activities via appropriate user interfaces.
  • Build strong working relationships with users (including lab management and key stakeholders) and team members, including Directors and above. Gains trust and respect of key users.
  • Manage multiple independent medium complexity activities to implement software upgrades, reporting enhancements, or development. Manage tasks, dependencies, and user/team expectations regarding scope and timeline of solution delivery.
  • Independently performs analysis, development, and testing of solutions while providing clear, well organized documentation of testing methods, procedures, and results.
  • Utilizes depth of reporting and tool specific expertise to recommend leading edge BI visualization designs to users that meet their expressed and unexpressed future needs.
  • Designs and develops dashboards and other innovative data visualization solutions using BI and reporting tools that enable user functionality with minimal on-going maintenance and post-production incidents.
Job Qualifications

Education: BS/BA in information technology or business-related field or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Three (3) or more years' experience in either (or both) Business Intelligence solution development (using many of the tools indicated below) or Healthcare technology.
Prior hands-on implementation or support experience with PowerPath, Rhodes, SafeTraceTX, Sunquest and/or Epic Beaker is strongly preferred.

License/Certification: Epic certification in the EpicCare Ambulatory modules (order/result tables and order transmittal rules) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple independent complex activities by applying project management principles and best practices. Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability.
  • Deep understanding of business processes, business challenges, and key metrics/measurements of the user area(s) supported. Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and interpret results.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Reporting (Crystal Reports, SSRS) and BI (BusinessObjects) concepts and tools and ability to apply best practices with those tools in creation of reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with database management systems (SQL Server and Oracle) as well as Structured Query Language (SQL), Data Definition Language (DDL), and Data Manipulation Language (DML).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with report development processes and methodologies.
  • Ability to tune performance of databases and SQL queries, including use to tuning tools/features (i.e., explain plans, etc.).
