Role: Senior Field Service Engineer

Duration: 6 months

Rate: €300+ per day

Location: Cork

A global IT Support company based in Cork is looking for an experienced Senior Field Service Engineer due to an influx in the workload. This is an opportunity to join a well-established consultancy with a progressive approach to customer care and new technologies.

The Senior Field Service Engineer will provide our customers with an efficient and friendly service. They will assume full ownership and responsibility of all allocated issues, ensuring they are dealt with promptly, professionally and satisfactorily concluded, to SLA Agreement. Project Management Installation, Configuration & Maintenance of mostly high end IT Servers, Server Clusters, SANs and Networks.

The successful candidate will be capable of developing into the role of Solutions Architect.

Job Objectives

Responsible for the effective operation of the following functions:

- Installation, supporting & maintaining of Servers and SAN hardware & software

- Installation, supporting & maintaining of the latest IT hardware & software

- Recommending & Providing IT solutions to customers, and recommending specifications for sales department

- Preventative Maintenance - Taking a proactive approach, anticipating likely issues for customers and making recommendations-

- Attend Pre sales meetings with sales team

- Provide the senior management team with high level technical advice and support

- Effectively communicate with all levels of the organizations on a technical and business level

- Providing training & technical support and mentoring engineering team with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence to excel as IT Professionals

- Working closely with other organizations and IT departments on behalf of customers

- Provide on-site support

- Take control of technical service issues, include initiating escalation procedures and following through on all open calls to customer satisfaction on allocated sites (as either primary or secondary engineer).

- Provide Disaster Recovery and Backup solutions

- Ensure that the customer is well informed as to the status of the escalation or resolution

- Document service calls using our call logging ticketing system

- Provision of emergency support outside of normal hours if required on an on-call basis



Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Overall 5-10years years IT experience at Senior Field Service Engineer level

- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science or equivalent engineer experience.

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems with particular focus on Active Directory and Exchange including MS Server Cluster

- Experience of working with Solaris and Linux an advantage,

- A good working knowledge of Servers, EMC SANs Networks such as Routers, Switches & Fire Wall, Desktop, VDI & Sophos AV is required

- Citrix Deployment and administration an advantage

- ITIL Certification and best practice an advantage

- 3-5 years' experience with VMware system environments on both Server and Client side with VM certification desirable

- Current Microsoft Certification essential

- Knowledge of storage solutions such as SAN and NAS an advantage,

- Prior experience in working & interacting in a professional engineering environment (both internal & external)

- Good communication skills with customer and colleagues is essential.

- Have strong analytical skills

- Have an ability to work independently and also as part of a wider support team

- Be flexible and willing to work irregular hours on occasion, and perform on call duties NOTE: You must be an EU resident or have a valid STAMP 4 for visa to qualify for this role. Sponsorship not considered.
