Network Engineer - SC ClearanceStart Date: ASAP - We can accommodate a reasonable notice period
Contract Length: 6 months + Extension
Location: Hybrid, Barrow
Pay: £400 - £480 per day inside IR35 (PAYE)
I am working with a leading global consultancy that is looking for a Network Engineer (Level 3 Network Support) that holds active SC Clearance.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who would be able to start this project as soon as possible, however, we can accommodate a reasonable notice period.
Description
You will be joining an established Network Operations Centre team working with other Network engineers. You will be supported by an established team tier of L1-L4 line support from an extended resolver team remotely located within the UK.
Hybrid working is possible with the role, though there may be a requirement to attend client site as needed. Additionally, (following a period of acclimatization) you will be involved in internal and vendor technical bridges, and be expected to work independently, or as part of a wider team of people. You will be expected to act as technical SME during incident resolution.
This role requires minimum UK Security Clearance.
Your role
Ideally you will have experience of working in a large client outsourcing environment, working within a client facing team. You will be capable of troubleshooting and configuring complex enterprise networks, be a good team player with experience of working in geographically dispersed environments. You will also be able to lead and direct major incident resolution whilst liaising with third party network service providers. You will have or be able to demonstrate competencies to a CCNA/CCNP level. Your duties will include:
- Level 3 Network support.
- Network incident diagnostics/resolution
- Network change implementation via requests made via ITSM
- Integrate within the established team
- Demonstrate a strong 'can do' attitude and willingness to progress
- Support & training will be provided to ensure further development
- Form part of the on-call rota
What you bring
- Good working knowledge of ITIL processes.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Minimum of 5 years' experience within IT and networking field
- Any valid networking technical certifications demonstrating proficiency with these skills
- Essential networking hands-on experience with:
o Cisco ACI software defined networks (multi-site & multi-pod)
o Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
o Network management tools like SolarWinds, or similar
o Citrix NetScaler's
o Network Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower, Cisco ASA & AnyConnect Remote Access)
o Identity Services - AAA & Cisco ISE
o Troubleshooting and fault-finding complex routing issues (BGP, OSPF & EIGRP)
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including firmware, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
- Desirable networking hands-on experience with:
o Scripting & automation tools (tcl, python, perl, ansible, jinja2)
o (Enterprise) Wi-Fi technologies including Cisco WLC or others
o Cisco UCS
o Supporting IT Health Checks
o Netscaler Administration
- Experience or good understanding of
o DevOps experience
o Spanning-tree protocols like MST, PVST & RSTP, trunking, channels, first-hop routing protocols and CDP
o Enterprise and service provider routing protocols like OSPF. BGP and EIGRP
o Network management protocols like SNMP, Netflow, SCP, NTP and AAA
