Engineering DBA for a 6 - 12 month contract with design and architecture experience to be based in Dublin with a leading Telecoms company
Project DescriptionWorking within the Database Management Engineering Team, building a data management layer that provides access to the underlying DBMS.
Responsibilities
- Designing overall database structure, feature use, data processing workflows, etc.
- Building high performance, scalable, systems, including assisting platform design/development around DB
- Performance Testing and benchmarking database functionality, alongside platform functionality
- Defining installation, upgrade and maintenance best practices from platform perspective
- Handover to production support teams
- Documenting implementation details
Required Candidate
- Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- 5+ years' experience as a DBA
- Proven Agile knowledge and experience
- Proactive, thorough and enthusiastic
Must have experience with:
- Oracle ExaData experience highly desirable
- Strong Oracle Enterprise DBA Experience:
- Oracle 10g, 11g - Full Understanding of RDBMS internal working
- Database and Application tuning experience
- Statistics Management
- ASM
- RMAN
Strong general DB Experience:
- VLDB (multi-terabyte)
- High volume data load throughput
- Analytical Databases
May have experience with:
- Other databases (RDBMS, Columnar, MySQL, etc.)
- Unix Platform experience desirable
- Predominately Linux, but also Solaris.
- Experience with SAN and other Storage Appliances desirable
- ZFS desirable
- Atlassian life cycle tools, Jira, Confluence
