Job Title: Software Engineer
Rate: £ per day
Location: Bristol
Length: 3 months
A Software Engineer is required to work on a beta project to help build a new website.
Main Duties:
- Work with the project team, delivering high quality software through the agile process
- Help to define and maintain best practices
- Work in collaboration with the Technical Architect and assist with the architectural low-level design of a Beta platform
- Work in collaboration with the Infrastructure Engineer to assist provisioning, setup, configuration, deployment, testing and administration of managed services as per the low-level design
- Communicate with non-technical stakeholders and be able to explain technical issues to them
Essential Skills
- Experience of Python, building microservices and deploying services. Technologies: Python frameworks, either Django or Flask
- Experience of working with cloud computing platforms, ideally Azure
- Experience with data storage solutions, such as NoSQL and SQL datastores
- Experience in delivering applications into a production environment with best practices around monitoring, security, alerts and metric frameworks
- Experience of provisioning and administering Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, including practical experience in tools such as Ansible, Git and so forth
- A good understanding of RESTful APIs
- Experience in Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD)
- Experience working in an Agile development environment
- Ability to learn new tools, technologies and frameworks quickly
Desirable Skills
- Azure Cloud Certification
- Experience in Go programming language
- Experience of diagnosing performance issues and recommending solutions based on a good understanding of cloud-based architectural patterns
- Experience of diagnosing security issues and recommending solutions based on a good understanding of cloud-based security principles
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a methodical and structured manner
