This is advanced technical services work in an integrated computer network environment. An employee in this classification performs a full range of system administration functions with minimal direction and/or technical support. An employee in this classification is responsible for installing and configuring network hardware and software; performing advanced troubleshooting and vendor technical liaison functions; and assisting in developing information management plans, researching and designing systems to implement plans, and developing and coordinating user training programs. Supervision may be exercised over other technical personnel. Work is performed under limited supervision.

Skills:

    • Bachelor'''s degree with preference in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
    • 2 years of IT and business/Industry hands-on work experience Specific skills & proficiency level:
    • Knowledge of complex multi-user network systems.
    • Knowledge of complex software applications on Servers, and networks.
    • Knowledge of proper computer system data security/backup procedures.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical computer problems.
    • Ability to perform research and make recommendations to management on technical computer issues.
    • Ability to draft agency automated information system policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Ability to perform work requiring lifting and/or physical exertion may be required.
    • Able to perform with little or no assistance under normal circumstances
    • Ability to operate in a remote, multi-site & matrixed, self directed, team environment.
    • Ability to adapt in a changing work environment (changing priorities/job tickets) including long working hours as systems problems arise.
    • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
    • Ability to stay current with changing technology.
    • Application development, implementation and maintenance and experience utilizing structured methodologies.
    • Ability to troubleshoot network problems including TCP/IP, Ethernet, cabling, Switches, e-mail, Windows Server, Linux, Websites, DNS, DHCP, MS SQL, Remote Access and other network related hardware/software and tools..* Shift is from 7-7 or 7-5.*

    Responsibilities:

      • Performs a full range of system administration functions in order to control systems and attain maximum utilization and efficiency.
      • Designs and implements system security measures such as backups, access control, system accounting, and disaster recovery in order to ensure and maintain system integrity and availability.
      • Participates in the development and implementation of agency information system policy in order to establish agency operating standards and procedures.
      • Researches, recommends, installs, and configures hardware, software, and networks for Servers with multi-user operating and/or networking systems in order to establish and maintain agency information systems.
      • Performs fault isolation and repairs in a complex computing/networking environment independently or in consultation with vendor or other technical personnel in order to diagnose and correct system problems.
      • Participates in the development of internal data management plans and coordinates plans and activities with personnel of other agencies in order to avoid duplication of efforts, share information, and maximize system efficiency
      • Other job related duties as assigned.
