Systems Administrator - Windows Server - DevOps - Restful API - Automation
Are you a passionate and confident Systems Administrator working within a DevOps Infrastructure delivery team and interested in working for one of the UK's fastest growing Financial Services Consultancy? This role is to join MHC, and work on-site at a Tier 1 Bank based in London or Sheffield.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Windows Systems Administrator for a DevOps infrastructure delivery role; configuring, delivering and supporting Windows server environments, services and APIs.
- Write Windows infrastructure as code to automate and streamline tasks. Building orchestration automation capabilities to support the execution of operational activities.
- Work across one or more application development environments on the Windows platform with restful web APIs
- Collaborate with other infrastructure, engineering, application and support teams.
- Liaise and answer queries with key stakeholders on issue.
- Provide technical support to the production issues.
- Prototyping and Proof of concepts as required.
- Writing documentation and standard operating procedure when required.
Key Skills
- Proficiency in Windows server admin skills (ie Windows ), is a must. Should possess industry standard certifications for Windows domain.
- Must have experience of DevOps tools, orchestration and configuration management (SCCM/Ansible/Jenkins/Puppet).
- Must be familiar with use of Web API to build RESTful APIs and Scripting in PowerShell, Python, and/or Perl for data management tasks.
- Strong infrastructure background with experience with IBM and HP x86 hardware, virtualisation platforms (VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V) and Clustering (Microsoft Cluster)
- Knowledge of API best practices related to resource organization, use of sub-resources, error handling, and authentication.
- Knowledge of storage infrastructure with experience of configuring filesystems on NAS storage and EMC SAN solutions, both standalone and clustered, including replication.
- Automation and application/product integration.
- Familiarity with toolsets for building and documenting APIs such as Swagger, OpenAPI, etc
- Familiarity with IIS including publishing web applications, managing certificates, and configuring authentication.
Desirable:
- Experience of source code management (GitHub/Bit Bucket) would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Databases such as MS-SQL would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with IT Infrastructure delivery and related process would be an advantage.
- Any Open Source project participation or any GitHub or blog publication would be an advantage.
