Transmission Planner

12-month contractHybrid working - 2 Days per week onsite from Reading/Solihull/Warrington

The Transmission Planning team is responsible for the planning & delivery of the transmission network according to agreed planning guidelines and policies on behalf of our shareholders. Transmission designs are delivered via Managed Service Partners (MSP's) managed by the MBNL Delivery Team.

What you can expect to be doing:

Activities undertaken by the Transmission Planner include (but not limited to)

- Transmission Topology Planning (HLTP)
- Etherway Planning and Order (up to 10GB)
- MW Planning (incl X-PIC, E-Band, Space Diversity)
- Circuit Planning (end to end connectivity)
- Cease of obsolete Etherway and MW (and any associated contracts/licences)
- Tools & Systems DI resolution
- Operational performance resolution (break-fix)
- MW Software Upgrade support (on the day)
- Live performance analysis (fault identification)
- Instruction of LOS Surveys and Tree Lopping (in life management)
- Support TX FOA and NPI activities

  • Where applicable; act as transmission lead, manage strategy, deployment and technical related issues on assigned projects.
  • Work closely with Transmission Design & Operational services function to ensure that such projects are prioritised as appropriate.
  • Identification of any planning tool requirements such that they support the delivery of transmission solutions, consolidation and evolution to future technologies.
  • Work closely with the capacity function within MBNL to ensure that Transmission and Transport capacity requirements are identified early and the technical committee notified of required investment to meet such requirements.
  • Participation in discussions and forums on behalf of MBNL -
  • Liaising with suppliers & service providers and acting as key management and technical point of contact.
  • Significant knowledge of transmission technologies (both leased line and radio) design knowledge and experience including SDH, ATM, Ethernet & IP technology
  • Hands on experience of transmission planning and circuit planning tools in creating transmission solutions.
  • Optimisation of capacity and performance of transmission networks
  • Experience in a Network Operator or Managed Service Provider environment
  • Demonstrable experience of project delivery on time and to customer satisfaction
  • Strong knowledge of the 2G/3G/4G Mobile Transmission Networks
