Description
The role of lead Linux virtualization Technical Specialist within the Emerging Technologies Delivery (ETD) team is as an individual contributor responsible for providing Linux virtualization (Oracle Virtual Machine) skills and associated IT services in a project role. As a lead role you are expected to provide technical guidance and direction to more junior members of the team.As a member of a team or working independently, the role requires delivering high quality service and advice to clients in a complex, high availability Oracle technology environment. The role requires providing technical advice to platform/asset managers, team leaders and well as giving technical direction to team members including subcontractors, or client personnel. The incumbent may be required to design and develop tools and methodologies used to manage analyse, design and implement technical solutions.Responsibilities and Duties:
- Use technical expertise to develop options and solutions to specific projects that are technical in nature and which are typically well defined and understood;
- Participate in after-hours change and incident related activities where necessary;
- Provide technical support within the projects environment;
- Assist support teams with performance tuning and troubleshooting;
- Execution of technical tasks including OVM Host server installation and configuration, guest installation and configurations, performance and tuning, Oracle Virtual manager installation and configuration and integration with other technology stacks
Skills and duties:
- Platform skills (UNIX, Windows)
- Technical Skills - MidRange/Intel
- OVM 2.1+, OEL 4.8+ or the equivalent Linux technologies (RHEL, Xen or Citrix XenServer)
- Storage and Networking principles, General Linux Enterprise technologies
- Windows O/S, VMware ESX, VSphere
- Technical Troubleshooting
- Oracle Enterprise Manager
