WEB CONTENT EDITOR - GLASGOW - 6 months
Our Glasgow based client has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Web Content Editor for an initial 6 month contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Process and improvement procedures
- Work with other content editors to continuously improve the Online Service.
- Share knowledge and experience with the team through a variety of channels, eg blog, wikis and team meetings.
- Assist content team to perform search engine optimisation (SEO) peer review on new and existing content according to the guidelines.
- Reviewing search results and removing broken items, bad titles & descriptions, highlighting image size problems.
- Assisting with general content maintenance tasks such as producing CMS reports for content reviews and audits, carrying out re-tagging, fixing links, amending titles, checking archived content, etc.
Content editing and publishing
- Publish content using our content management systems according to organisation procedures.
- Identify and source additional supporting content to add value to materials from content providers.
- Ensure that the content published complies with usability, accessibility and other content standards using standards compliance software.
- Add metadata to all content components guidelines and taxonomies.
Content development
- Edit and structure content to ensure it highlight's the content owner's key messages in a web friendly format and adheres to writing for the web principles.
- Develop and maintain specific areas of the Online Service as directed by Web Content Managers
- Ensure accuracy, maintain house style and advise on editorial policy.
Essential Experience
- Experience in editing and publishing web content.
- Strong editorial accuracy and good attention to detail.
- Experience of enterprise level content management systems, metadata and taxonomies.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and to produce well-written reports and web content.
- Experienced in online content review, audit, maintenance, archiving and quality assurance processes.
- Proficient in software such as Photoshop and Acrobat Professional, as well as Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc).
- An understanding of website standards and regulations including usability and accessibility.
