Goodwin Media is one of Utah's fastest growing companies. We are a small team of designers and developers doing great work in a remote environment.
Goodwin Media is seeking a web developer/designer to join our team; contract-to-hire.
The ideal condidate will be a great designer with the ability to code.
WHAT THIS POSITION IS NOT...
For someone looking for a 9-to-5 job
We understand that everyone is different. Some people prefer normal work days, others prefer early morning or late nights. We don't care when you work. We do care that you work and that your work and communication are good. Deadlines, communication and quality reign supreme.
For someone who needs to go to the office every day
At this time, we're a lean design and development team. We're able to execute work extremely efficiently and very much take advantage of opportunities that arise from being agile. We're based in Highland, Utah, we don't have a corporate office and encourage working wherever is most comfortable and productive.
For someone who needs a manager to get things done
We're small. We don't have managers. We don't have titles. We just work. We need people that can jump in and get things done. Micro-management is not our speciality and people who need constant supervision need not apply.
For someone with strict areas of expertise
We value process-oriented knowledge, rather than task-oriented knowledge. While we don't expect someone to be a master of everything, we believe designers should be familiar with code, and developers understand design. You will be asked to do work outside your comfort zone, and encouraged to learn and cultivate your skill set into new areas of interest.

Required:
- Extremely self-motivated and goal-oriented. We're remote, so if you don't get things done, you get left behind.
- Articulate and well spoken
- Pride in his/her writing and communication ability
- Extremely detail oriented (do you triple check your work before sending off for client approval? Did you really read this? If so when you apply tell us your favorite food.)
- Trustworthy and honest
- Competent with CSS3, HTML5, Javascript, PHP
- Competent with Wordpress theme development, plugin development and general customizations
- Experience with Ruby, Shopify, Magento, and UIKit framework is a bonus.
- Understanding design, UI, and UX concepts, and being able to translate these concepts to technical implementations.
- Expert in Photoshop and Illustrator
- InDesign experience a plus for print design (not requried)
- Strategy and execution for branding initiatives
- Wireframes / user flow experience
- Good clean design skills
- Familiarity of modern design trends and styles
- Strong personal emphasis on attention to detail (naming conventions, clean design files, working with grids, etc.)
- Comfortable sketching ideas and coming up with initial comps
- Good working knowledge of typography and web usage

Salary Range for this position will start at $50-60k/yr for full time work.
