Description
An exciting opportunity is available for a Software Developer with experience in the finance sector. This position is located in the historic city of Luxemburg.
1. Description of the main tasks:
Daily support:
- 1st and 2nd level support activity
- Problem follow-up and resolution
- Prioritisation
- Root cause analysis
- Investigation including (Legacy) code research
- Active management of the tickets backlog
Bug Fixing:
- Problem analysis including debugging if applicable together with the users and other IT teams
- Proposal of solution including estimation
- Problem resolution
- Testing
Small enhancement:
- Business analysis if needed
- Periodical clean-up
- Design of solution including estimation
- Resolution of issue/implementation of solution
- Testing
Release Management:
- Branch management (ie patching and merging)
- Usage but also configuration of build environment
- Build of releases
- Coordination with other IT teams if needed
Testing:
- Non-regression testing
- Pre-release testing of newly developed functionality
Documentation:
- Continuous improvements
- Challenge existing processes with the aim of reaching higher efficiency
- Automation of repetitive tasks
- Documentation of processes
- Training/guidance of more junior or new resources
2. The ideal candidate should have the following expertise:
- More than 7 years of relevant IT experience.
- Experience in a financial services environment
- Maintenance and support activities
- Maintenance of risk applications
- Experience with development methodologies
- Experience with release management
- Software development, testing and debugging
- Software documentation
- Data warehouse (ETL) and BI best practices
- Database programming
- Shell Scripts (bash/ksh)
3. Required experience in IT specifics:
- Experience with Java/J2EE
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with XML/XSLT
- Experience with HTML JavaScript
- Experience with Selenium
- Experience with LDAP Authentication and Access Control
- Experience with BO Universe and reporting
- Experience with Linux RedHat
- Experience with Sybase database server
Applicants should be able to start 1st of September 2016.
This assignment is initially offered for 6 months, with possible extensions afterwards, as a freelance or as a CDD contract.
