Description
Modis are currently recruiting for a Defence company based in Dorset looking for two Senior Software Engineers on a contract basis to assist in the workload on a number of projects. Candidates must be able to gain SC level security clearance.
The role will utilise your experience of C++ and/or Java programming as well as UML and OO design methodologies. Experience within the Defence or Aerospace industry is essential and also full software engineering life cycles.
Role: Senior Software Engineer
Rate: circa £47 per hour (flexible)
Location: Dorset
Duration: Initial 6 months
Responsibilities
- Support principal engineer to review and guide the elaboration of derived software requirements at the outset of the project.
- Design, code and unit test software in accordance with the company's procedure and project specific requirements.
- Implement software that is maintainable and is fit for purpose (meet the requirements).
- Undertake all integration and test activities when required.
Essential Skills required:
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent in software, computer science or software related discipline.
- Experience of software engineering full life cycle.
- Customer facing experience in a formal acceptance test environment.
- Knowledge of formal requirements capture and analysis (preferably using DOORS)
- Possessing a rigorous and methodical work pattern.
- Self-starter and able to learn on the fly.
- The successful candidate must have security (SC) clearance as a minimum.
- Robust experience of UML and OO design methodologies.
- Experience of Real Time designs, programming concepts and design patterns.
- Proficiency in high level programming language C++ and/or Java.
