Description
Principal Java Developer with commercial experience working with Java 8 or 11, SpringBoot, Microservices, REST API's, DevOps, AWS or other Cloud tech & Agile is immediately required to join an award-winning nationwide financial services provider based in South West England (GU1) on an initial 6-month contract (likely extensions)
The Job
As a Principal Java Developer, you will be a central member of an Agile cross-functional (Back End, Front End, QA) team engaged in a long-term digital transformation project moving to digital-first using AWS. With the project being at its early, tip of the iceberg' stage, you'll be able to define systems from the ground up, offering real scope for innovation in building high-concurrent microservices using Java 11 and SpringBoot ready to be deployed via CI/CD pipelines with Docker on AWS. Away from your hands-on responsibilities, you'll be expected to act as the bridge between the team and business, standardising practices in your team and contribute to the AWS bigger picture with the architects.
The Person
This Principal Java Developer contract requires you to have 8+ years commercial experience working on high performance applications within Agile environments. You will need to have a strong understanding in Java 8/11, SpringBoot and Spring Framework, Relational & Non-relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB etc.), DevOps practices (CI/CD, Containerisation) and Cloud computing.
The Tech
- Commercial experience using Java 8/Java 11 (or later versions)
- Experience using Spring frameworks (Spring MVC, Spring Security, Core Spring etc)
- Experience building REST or SOAP API's
- Experience designing & building Java microservices with SpringBoot
- Strong understanding in cloud computing (preferably AWS)
- Testing experience using Junit, JTest or other tools following TDD, BDD
- Agile development experience (SCRUM, Kanban, Scaled Agile)
