Senior Software Engineer - Investment Bank - Contract - London - £500-£650 pdMy client, a top tier investment bank is looking for an FX Options Senior Software Engineer with Front Office and Derivatives experience to join their team in London.
What the role will entail:
This position provides a challenging opportunity to develop software for the Front Office FX Options Derivatives business. Business requirements cover all aspects of a trading/pricing system; trade capture, trade pricing, scenario analysis, downstream integration, results aggregation and presentation. The candidate must be able to work in a highly dynamic environment with demanding clients. The successful candidate will gain excellent exposure to these business areas as well as the opportunity to work in a technically challenging, delivery focused environment.
As a developer within the FX Options Derivatives team, responsibilities include:
Delivery of new functionality as well as support of existing systems using industry best practices to deliver business value.
- Discussion of requirements, design and testing issues with the business users.
- Working across all aspects of the application suite to provide a balanced view of the applications and the business they serve.
- Working with other members of the team bringing previous experiences of technology to the team.
- Liaising with support teams to assist in diagnosing and resolving production issues, including some out-of-hours support.
Relevant skill set and experience:
- A hands on developer with a can do attitude i.e. knows how to "ship software".
- Experience in a Front Office investment banking role, preferably with experience of derivatives.
- Is willing to accept change, is both pragmatic and a self starter.
- Excellent communication skills both within IT and with business users.
- Takes an active interest in their role and the wider use of what they produce, above and beyond expectation.
- Excellent server-side and core Java skills (Core Java, JDBC, Ant, Cruise Control or Team City, JUnit, Java Swing), design patterns.
- Unix / Linux experience, including scripting.
- Relational database.
- Experience in writing multi-threaded, concurrent applications.
- Can demonstrate an active passion in technology (keeping up-to-date with technology developments, open-source projects etc).
