THE ROLE:
- Work on tasks assigned by the team lead based on the needs of projects / support work.
- Guide other team members on technical issues.
- Suggest and use latest, stable technologies that align with the strategic direction of the company.
- Participate in definition of design and coding guidelines and standards.
- Design and coding of applications.
- Participate in reviews of design and code artefacts.
- Estimate work packages and projects
- Implement tools and automation of development processes where applicable
THE CANDIDATE:
You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and should be able to articulate point of view clearly to convince team members, with an aptitude to learn new technologies with training.
THE SKILLS:
Essential Skills:
- Excellent Java skills - (SCJP certified preferred)
- Excellent J2EE skills -Servlets, JSPs, JSTL, EJBs and JMS
- Extensive experience developing web applications; across all tiers (front end, web, business and database) .
- Extensive experience in Open Source frameworks/Tools including Ant, Spring MVC, Commons libraries etc.
- Experience in deployment to Oracle WebLogic.
- Excellent SQL and PLSQL skills (Oracle) including query optimisation.
- Good knowledge of physical data modelling (indexes, partitions, table spaces etc.)
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- Knowledge of OOAD best practises, preferably with SOA knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, should be able to articulate point of view clearly to convince team members.
- Aptitude to learn new technologies with training.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience of web frameworks like Struts and Stripes and other web technologies such as XHTML, Ajax, JavaScript.
- Experience using Erwin Data Modeller or other data modelling tools.
- Python scripting experience.
Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
