Description

Next Ventures is currently looking for a Software Engineer/Java Developer to join a long-term project with a leading tech company in Rome.

Role Description:

  • Design of software components for customer Videoscape deployments based on customer and project requirements.
  • Development of software components for customer Videoscape deployments.
  • Testing and documenting for all developments.
  • Supporting installation teams during deployment and customer acceptance testing of the developments.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of the JAVA programming language
  • In-depth knowledge of JAVA Enterprise Edition (JEE) technology
  • Familiar with one or more software design and development methodologies.
  • Good knowledge of REST & SOAP web services, especially implementation in a JEE application.
  • Good (user) knowledge of Linux.

Basic understanding of digital video platforms:

  • Encoding
  • Electronic program guide
  • Encryption & digital rights management
  • Content delivery networks.

Familiarity with the following technologies:

  • Relational databases & SQL
  • SEAM 2
  • JBOSS Application Server 5.x
  • Hibernate
  • JAVA Persistence API (JPA)
  • Enterprise Service Bus (JBOSS ESB preferred)

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in JAVA software development.
  • At least 5 years of experience in JAVA Enterprise software development (Servlets, JSP, JSF, EJB).
  • Familiar with the Eclipse IDE for JAVA/JEE development.

Other requirements:

  • Good verbal and written knowledge of English
  • Knowledge of Italian would be a strong asset
  • Availability to work in Rome for the entire project duration
