Leatherhead - 3 months + £500 per day
SC Cleared - Solution Architect - Big Data - Hadoop - Java - SQL - Spark - HDFS - On Premise - Open Source
We are looking for an SC Cleared Solution Architect (Big Data & Java) to join a dev team which build and maintain a number of operational systems for a key client within Defence. The Team is primarily focused on the development of new capabilities of a data platform.
We need a self-starting and experienced Solution Architect to work as part of the development team. The Solution Architect must have proven team leadership skills, be pro-active, take ownership of tasks and provide technical solutions and governance for a team of highly motivated software developers.
Mandatory requirements:
- Experience of big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark and YARN or other Big Data technologies.
- Solution Architecture experience as well as experience of working as a technical lead within a development team.
- Experience of designing SQL databases.
- The ability to write technical documentation such as SADs, LLDs, HLDs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate with both management and development teams.
- Knowledge of automation/configuration management (ie Ansible).
- Knowledge of a wide variety of open source technologies including but not limited to; Accumulo, HDFS, Hive, Oozie, Apache Spark, YARN, Zookeeper, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Kafka, NiFi, Kubernetes, Java, Docker, Elasticsearch,
Desirable Skills:
- Experience of working in an Agile project delivery environment, using SCRUM.
- The ability to write user guides, release notes etc.
- Experience of System Testing and experience of automated testing - eg unit tests, integration tests, mocking/stubbing.
- Experience of providing technical assurance for bids/proposals.
