Job Description:
- The successful candidate will work as the Lead Developer in the HMRC Digital Centre in Worthing (DDCW). HMRC aim to have Lead Developers in each of their Digital centres throughout the UK and have asked Capgemini to fulfil the role. The role is not affiliated to an individual team in DDCW. Rather, it is intended the successful candidate will represent DDCW in a cross-centre Lead Development community. The individual will be helping to focus future technical growth/strategy on HMRC's Digital platform; help to ensure adherence to platform standards within DDCW and be generally available to all teams for technical advice and assistance in DDCW.
- HMRC's Digital platform is a huge undertaking comprised of hundreds of microservices. It is responsible for the collection of tax and querying of data relating to a myriad of tax regimes. DDCW have specialist teams within the payments and security space and are also responsible for the HMRC iOS and Android mobile applications.
Key Skills required:
- Experience of developing and designing Restful APIs
- Experience of working on large scale/high throughput architectures
- Hands-on development experience with Scala
- Understanding/experience of DevOps technologies (Jenkins/Grafana/Kibana)
- Experience of technically leading pieces of work within Agile teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate on multiple levels - from developers within teams to key business stake holders outside of the teams
- Demonstrable experience of developing junior developers
Desirable
- Previous experience of Government IT engagements
- Hands-on development experience with Play Framework
- Hands-on development experience with MongoDB
