We are seeking a Performance Test Engineer to support vehicle-level performance testing across multiple propulsion architectures, including xHEV and BEV platforms. The role involves conducting physical track and road tests, troubleshooting vehicle and instrumentation issues, and delivering accurate analysis and reporting of performance metrics.

Outline of the Role

The Performance Test Engineer contributes to the development and validation of performance attributes by:

Conducting on-track and on-road vehicle performance tests

Supporting feature development on the performance roadmap

Troubleshooting test vehicles and logging equipment

Analysing and reporting performance test data

You will operate in a fast-paced environment, supporting urgent test requests and tight delivery timelines for propulsion programs.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver physical performance testing according to the performance test plan

Prepare and instrument vehicles, ensuring correct setup and accurate signal logging

Execute tests such as:

0–100 kph acceleration

Vmax tests

Repeated acceleration cycles

Other performance attribute evaluations

Troubleshoot vehicle and measurement toolchain issues

Process, visualise, and interpret test data using provided toolsets

Document results and produce clear, structured test reports

Support continuous improvement of the testing and data toolchain

Respond to unscheduled and urgent test activities as required

Required Skills & Experience (Essential)

Demonstrable experience with vehicle testing on track, including high-speed and dynamic testing

Strong experience in test data acquisition, analysis, and toolchain usage

Valid full driving licence with no more than 7 active penalty points

Proven background in vehicle testing environments

Ability to work onsite in Gaydon, UK, with full responsibility for own travel

Desirable Skills

Strong presentation and communication skills

Experience with propulsion systems (BEV/xHEV)

Ability to operate effectively under tight deadlines
