Get ready for the next features: Your new freelancermap profile

G

Earlier this year, we introduced our new logo as the first step in improving freelancermap. Now, we’re continuing to enhance the platform with exciting new features to make your experience even better. The next updates are already underway, and we need your help to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Key updates for freelancers

To make sure these changes are introduced seamlessly, a few minor updates are required to your profile. Updating your profile now will ensure no information is lost, and everything is ready for the next phase.

Below, we’ve outlined the upcoming changes that will affect freelancers. We’ve also explained why these changes are necessary and how you can easily adjust your profile.

Profile update in progress! Please review your information

We’re improving the profile structure, and to ensure nothing is lost, a quick update is needed.

1. No more “Other information” field

Why?

The “Other Information” field was used to share additional details, but to make your profile cleaner and improve how matches are made, we’re removing it.

What to do?

Move any important info from “Other Information” to the “Skills” section.

Tip: While you’re at it, check your keywords and remove any that aren’t relevant. This will help you match with the right projects.

2. Automatic profile translations

Why?

Managing profiles in different languages was time-consuming. Now, profiles can be automatically translated using AI, saving time and keeping your profile always up-to-date.

What to do?

Make sure your default profile language is set correctly (we recommend English as it reaches more clients). If you have translations, you’ll see instructions on how to proceed directly in your profile edition.

3. No more YouTube integration

Why?

Very few freelancers used the YouTube link. To simplify things, we’re focusing on features that work for everyone.

What to do?

If you want to showcase your work, upload samples to the “Portfolio” section or include them in the “Skills” field.

4. Travel availability isn’t needed anymore

Why?

Travel availability is now part of the matching process, so you don’t need to mention it separately.

What to do?

If travel is important for your work (e.g., specific travel details or conditions), you can add that info directly in the “Skills” section.

5. New character limits

Why?

To improve readability and help your profile show up better in search results, we’ve updated the character limits.

What to do?

Existing text will stay as is, but the new character limits will apply when you edit your profile.

Tip: Shorter, clearer text makes your profile easier to find and read. Keep it concise!

Why these updates matter

These changes aren’t just technical – they’re designed to make your experience better. By updating your profile now, you’ll make sure that:

  • All your information stays safe and up-to-date.
  • Your profile is accurately matched with relevant projects
  • Project providers can quickly find the details they need in your profile.

What’s coming next?

We’re working on new features to make freelancing even easier. Some of the updates coming soon include:

  • A cleaner inbox with conversation threads, making it easier to manage messages.
  • More accurate project matching, including the option to filter by contract type.
  • Better ways to make your profile stand out and get noticed.
  • A modern, streamlined design to help you navigate the platform more easily.

Heads-up for those hiring freelancers

Closing projects

Companies can no longer activate or deactivate projects. When closing a project, they can automatically send rejections to freelancers with open conversations or applications.

Projects expire automatically after 6 months

Projects older than 6 months will automatically be removed from the listings unless the company closes them first.

Tip: Freelancers really appreciate feedback, whether it’s positive or constructive. Giving professional feedback helps build trust and a good reputation, which leads to better collaboration in the future.
